AquiCapture produced by the company Slawdog is a program for capturing videos. It is suitable for both Windows and Macintosh computers. The program can record in various formats, usually AVI and QuickTime. This program automatically detects your video device, but there is an option to choose alternate video devices, compression, format and display options.
The video can be saved as an AVI and QuickTime files. The choice depends on that what operating system is installed on your computer. For Windows computers the AVI is usually the best choice. The QuickTime can be used if it has been already installed. Computers with Macintosh operating systems support only QuickTime. UNIX supported computers can’t work with this program also. AquiCapture is freeware and that is its main advantage. The support of only two video formats is a shortcoming because nowadays there are so many video formats which are much more common for example flv, mpg, rm, wmv and many others. AVI and QuickTime video formats are not so common, although they are on the list of the common video formats. Nevertheless this software is free of charge and is very small in size, only 1, 2 MB, so it won’t be a problem downloading it even with a slow connection to the Internet.
